Naomi Watts

 

Naomi Ellen Watts (born 28 September 1968) is a British actress from the UK. Her film debut was in Australia in For Love Alone (1986) that was followed by three tv shows: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and Flirting (1991). Watts relocated to America in 2000. She struggled initially as an actor. In fact, she was only able to play small roles in films before becoming a aspiring actress in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive psychological thriller. She gained international recognition for this part. Watts was then cast as a tortured journalist in The Ring (2002). The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as a grieving mother in Alejandro film 21 Grams (2003). She continued to climb the ranks of fame with her parts in I Heart Huckabees (2004) and King Kong (2005) as well as Eastern Promises (2007) and The International (2009). In her role as Maria Bennett in the disaster film The Impossible (2012), Watts was awarded an additional Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She appeared in films, such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014) and While We're Young (2015). Watts was also a mainstay in blockbuster films, appearing in Divergent (2015)-2016.
